"For now, the Republican criticism seems overblown. " As I have posted here repeatedly, I agree that some of the criticism is overblown. But the fact that some criticism is illigitimate doesn't doesn't make the proposal a good one. I wish the other side would make legitimate criticisms instead of engaging in outrageous hype.
