Great article, Sanjeev. It certainly pointed three things which stands out in my mind.

1)For a high tech corporation, regardless of who or if there is a potential suitor for SGI, the company looks ridiculously cheap at the specified 1.7 times book value at today's prices;

2)Ed's premature actions (regarding the annoucement on Monday w/o approval of the board)shows how incompetent he is as an executive officer and chairman of the board. His weak explanations for the sale of Cray computers to the Russian military didn't help either.;

3)Lastly, it is always a shame to see a company with all these 'gee-whiz' technology go down the drain with the actions of Ed. However, I do give him credit for vastly improving the balance sheet of SGI (cash of $485 million!).

As I've stated b4, either way, drastic actions have to be implemented in order to reclaim the respect by SGI's peers as well as Wall Street itself.
