The likely payback for all these bailouts is structurally high unemployment and a stock market that goes nowhere for years to come. I think this would be not the worst of possible scenarios. What could be worse is another wholesale crash in valuations. Being overspent, low on credit and not very competitive in the marketplace is... not a good place to be. What inspires our leaders to believe that diluting the dollar and borrowing more - and spending the way they do - may help save the day.... is a great mystery. Can't see how it may possibly do any good.
