He said (paraphrasing) that these days parents bring a child to a Pediatrician, and the Doc looks into the fee schedule and figures he'll get paid better if he does a tonsillectomy.

I think every doc should have been pissed about it. I think he was jabbing a stick in the eye of the entire profession with this remark. This kind of stuff just incites more unjustified cynicism from the public -- while it may further his political objective, it really isn't an honest assessment, and a lot of people eat this stuff up.
