Sounds like the charge was way out of line. Never heard of such charges for a surgery done in an ER. The fact that the insurance company paid him 2K makes me think that maybe it was more then just a couple of simple stitches. But it still sounds like way too much... no wonder the guy made the list of highest billers in the nation... g/ng

I used to be friendly with a plastic surgeon who, unfortunately, got cancer and died about a year ago. Was a nice guy, loved to do surgery and made a lot of money. But he also paid at least half a dozen full time salaries, and his insurance premium was over 500K - which, I thought, was bordering on insane.
