What are you talking about??????????

The original source for that NYT piece was the Washington Post (quoting Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia) AND ALSO the same words coming out of the lips of the good Senator himself, on this Sunday's talk shows.

Senator Johnny Isakson of Georgia, who has long espoused helping Medicare patients learn about options for care at the end of their lives. In an interview with The Washington Post on Monday, Isakson diagnosed Palin’s interpretation of his suggestion as “nuts”.

And WHAT THE HELL do "British Government Bureaucrats" have to do with anything? (Is Newtie tripping???????)

PS --- even Palin isn't using her phrase "Death Panel" any longer. :-)

(And... who the Hell thinks that this low-level dude Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel has any input into the legislative process and language anyway? PLEASE! That's just imagination run wild....)

Sarah Palin Responds To "Death Panel" Criticism...With Footnotes!

In an essay posted last night to her Facebook page, ex-AK Gov. Sarah Palin and her research staff responded last night to criticism from -- well, she says President Obama, but it's actually criticism from sensible circles on the right and the left -- that she misstated the facts when she wrote last Friday about "death panels" being given the power to decide whether her son Trig's life was valuable. The essay doesn't seem to be in Palin's voice; it is more dispassionate and analytical than anything she has previously written, much less said, in recent memory. It includes 11 footnotes, linking to bill texts, government reports, articles and supportive commentary.

Turns out that Palin's argument IS about the advance directive provision of HR 1233. "With all due respect, it's misleading for the President to describe this section as an entirely voluntary provision that simply increases the information offered to Medicare recipients. The issue is the context in which that information is provided and the coercive effect these consultations will have in that context."

Later in the essay, she cites the writings of Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, a communitarian cancer specialist who now works at the Office of Management and Budget, as providing the 'philosophical grounding' for the Democratic Party's health care plans.

Palin's opinion of the provision -- and of Emanuel's influence -- amounts to an argument that doctors ought to be careful and compassionate when they brief patients about end-of-life care. It does not justify the term "death panels," as the facts themselves don't justify the use of the term.

Palin's essay does not, in fact, mention, "death panels" this time.

Absolutely true. I checked my mother into a skilled nursing facility two weeks ago. I hadn't even sat down at the admissions desk when DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) papers were shoved at me. "Sign this." That was it. Are you kidding me? I didn't travel 800 miles to ignore her to death.

I'm sorry, I'm trying to be an adult about this, but Sarah Palin has to be the dumbest, least-competently-managed figure in politics today. At this point I can pretty much use her as a litmus test to gauge someone's intelligence and seriousness about solving problems in America. As in, if you really believe Sarah Palin is the answer, then I can tell immediately that you're 1) not very bright, 2) not serious about solving America's problems, or 3) 1 + 2.

It is interesting that whenever the left wing progressives disagrees with a position they bring out personal attacks. Borat, you probably don't even realize that you do it but stating that anyone who doesn't agree with you point of view of Palin is "not very bright" or "not serious about solving" our problems doesn't help open conversation about a subject. First I would venture to say that while I'm not a fan, Sarah Palin has reached goals that you will probably only dream of. Her opinions are no more important (and no less important) than anyone elses. But they certainly aren't stupid opinions.

Borat has it right ! The knee jerk mindless rhetoric Sarah Palin is famous for is designed to keep the fear and loathing that the right have for Obama specifically, and democracy in general, at a boiling point. The ability to inflame a base that does not consider opinions other then the radical right's spawns hate, disgust, and images such as the Obama posters embellished with Hitler mustaches that are apparent at all the "town hall meetings" this summer. Are these people CRAZY? How any supposed "patriots" can embellish ANY US president's image with a psychopathic mass murdering sub-human's imagery points to the disconnect these people have from reality. Sarah Palin's voice does nothing to help our great country. It only leads into a weakened divided nation. I personally am sickened by the damage she and her followers are doing to us.
