I will grant you that. But that was an issue which had been buried to a large extent until the Right started to push it during the Bush administration. Dividing the country against itself is a strategy that might pay off in the short term, but has long term negative consequences. Which we are seeing now.

At the end of the day, we are all Americans. All these attempts to set one against the other can only weaken us as a country. Which doesn't mean we can't disagree. We should. But an "us against them" mindset can only be destructive.
