The universe is finite and contingent.

Think of yourself like a detective following the evidence back to it's source. What makes no sense is an actual infinite regress. A theoretical infinite regress is possible because it is merely theoretical and one can always imagine another regress. An actual infinite regress of causes in the physical universe is impossible because the material universe is finite. The buck has to stop somewhere and where it stops is at the uncreated self existent being that we call God.
