How will the US get leaders who can lead? I mean all the representatives, not just the president. Having spent 13 years inside, and now looking from the outside, I have the impression that nothing will improve until money is taken out of the political equation. It costs so much to mount a political campaign with a chance, that politicians have to devote a large amount of time and thought to raising funds, and realists that they are, they know the best way to get money is to cultivate people who have plenty. The main skill a politician needs today is the ability to convince the masses that he's on their side, while acting on behalf of the wealthy few. The result is a government run by Goldman Sachs, and a wealth gap that keeps increasing.
