NEWARK, Del., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lightwave Logic, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: LWLG - News) a technology company focused on the development of electro-optic polymer materials for applications in high speed fiber-optic telecommunications and optical computing, announced today that Jim Marcelli, its chief executive officer sent the following open letter to its shareholders:
Open Letter to Lightwave Logic, Inc. Shareholders
"Powered by Lightwave Logic"
Dear Shareholders:
Since I joined Lightwave Logic, I have made certain that consistent and timely shareholder communications regarding our plans, progress and accomplishments was a priority. In a relatively short period of time, we have narrowed the focus of the company and defined a path toward initial commercialization of our technology. On this my first anniversary with the company, rather than revisiting the past, I want to present a view of our future -- an exciting future that can now be better envisioned given the development of our "Next Generation Electro-Optic Material Platform."
Lightwave Logic's Next Generation Electro-Optic Material Platform will be making the next generation of end user products more efficient, more competitive and more effective by developing the optimal material solutions within a broad range of applications. We have begun to identify, engage and will be working with major system suppliers in the Computer, Telecommunications and Military Aerospace industries to enhance and develop new end user products as we move our company from development stage to revenue producing.
The completion of our initial prototype modulators will be a major step in that direction. Future expansion of our prototyping capability will enable us to broaden our reach, developing and commercializing our proprietary electro-optic plastics material for all major applications. Our vision is for Lightwave Logic's prototyping team to be kept busy for years developing and improving new materials and providing solutions to system integrators that have specific application requirements.
To better understand that vision, let's take a look at the semi-conductor world, where Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) are now standard. Similarly, Lightwave Logic will be developing Application Specific Electro-Optic Polymers (ASEOP) for use in the Computer, Telecommunications and Military Aerospace markets.
In addition, specific optical materials for each application enable the application to be "green." For example, in the future, if used in a optical computer, our material could decrease power requirements as much as 60%, while providing a 50,000 times improvement in computing power for a given size weight and power. This should provide Lightwave with a strong competitive advantage.
"Powered by Lightwave Logic" is more than a tag line. In a few words it describes how our technology will be used. We will develop collaborative relationships with strategic partners who will deploy our application-specific tuned materials. Our materials will be specifically designed as an essential component to bring, speed, efficiency and "green solutions" to a wide array of end-user products.
In the months ahead, Lightwave Logic will reach significant technology milestones and at the same time forge important partnerships and relationships within our target industries. These are critical steps on the road toward launching our proprietary technology as a key product solution.
I am confident in our direction and encouraged by robustness of our technology and the commitment of our people. I look forward to reporting to you on our future progress.
Jim Marcelli
