They're doing their usual suspended animation, building a floor for late day surge. Maybe, just maybe, that old rotted beam will give this time. We need more data.

The basic formula for estimating the load carrying capacity of a piece of wood (P) used as a beam is

P = (1 / k) * ( [ Fb * b * d2 ] / l )

Where k = constant based on the characteristic of the load (point source or spread along the entire beam); Fb = allowable bending stress; b = width of the beam; d = depth or height of the beam (d2 means d-squared); and l is the length of th span.
