Obama claimed that's what it COST. No, he didn't. The precise quote: "But if that same diabetic ends up getting their foot amputated, that's $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 -- immediately the surgeon is reimbursed." No surgeon has ever been reimbursed $30,000 by Medicare for a procedure, unless it was in error (in which case it must be refunded within 30 days by law).
