I am so struck by our similarities of interest from vastly different life histories. I led a very sheltered life, filled with love and family strengths. My siblings are such good friends that I have little drive to seek out new ones. But I learned from my life the same lessons that Bill did: what's really important.

I too read the Encyclopedia cover to cover. It's what I did for fun as a kid when I was sick or something.

I'm interested in anthropology and archeology. Right now I'm trying to interact with an anthropology professor to set up a study of a gold mining camp. Bill says his next book will deal with those subjects. I can't wait.

Bill works much harder than I do. I have some sort of internal governor that slows me down when I get overloaded. Like him, however, I am very goal oriented. I keep projects on the burner for decades, but I never forget them.

Another thing I like about Bill is his ability to make something out of nothing. My Dad taught me that. Once he made a tire pump out of an old refrigerator compressor and a lawn mower chassis. We're still getting rid of his accumulations fifteen years after he died.

Bill Pack knows what is important about life, and writes about it. There are more important ideas on one page of his book than there are in a whole day of television.

I'm so sorry I missed his book signing by one week. It would have been quite an experience.
