When I went to Mississippi to play poker a few years back, I saw things I have never seen. It was scary. Then I went on to Atlanta and spoke with a black bookstore owner. He said: "even I do not go to Mississippi". Even today. They are so anti intellectual you had to hide any intelligence you had at all times. The guys I was playing poker with were a mean lot. I never saw those types of peopel in California. Even now, who is running the extreme right wing of the Republican party. A bunch of southern congresspeople. They were also the last group to support Nixon. When I worked on the pipline, lots of the pipeliners were from the deep south. I never saw racism like that in my whole life. They saw the blacks as animals like dogs and cats. There is racism and then there is extremem racism.
