Not only is the temperature data suspect, but so is the CO2 data...

The primary source of atmospheric CO2 data is provided by the Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii.

esrl.noaa.gov

The reliance on that single source of data rests on the concept that Hawaii, being well away from continental land masses and elevation of Mauna Loa means that the air in that region is relatively free from the direct influences of man's activity (curious, seeing that is what they claim to be the cause of the trends they observe).

However Mauna Loa is in close proximity to one of the world's continually active volcanoes, which itself produces vast quantities of CO2 and releases it as high elevations. They claim to "turn off" measurements when the winds blows in that direction, but that is an actively managed decision subject to human bias.

In addition while high level CO2 concentrations have seemingly increased there is a definite large seasonal variation, in a country that in itself has little seasonal changes. Of course the ever increasing air travel in Hawii has a similar season pattern to the data shown in the CO2 data and high flying aircraft directly add CO2 into the same higher levels of the atmosphere that Mauna Loa takes it's samples.

Do they turn off the sampling every time a aircraft flies past? My personal observation is that air travel is a very popular way to travel between the islands and there are very regular schedules which do vary according to the season. It's only an anecdotal observation, but I have never seen it offically addressed.
