30 years ago poker was updated to make the game faster, more action and more logical. Two things changed: Common cards that made the game 13 times more condensed (and therefore more action) in hands and blinds rather than antes. 4/8 hold em: first two rounds of betting are $4 and next two, 4th street and the river are $8. The person left of the dealer puts in $2 (small blind) and the person to the left of him puts in $4(big blind). Everyone is dealt 2 cards. Guy to the left of the big blind either calls the big blind $2, rises it to $4 or folds; and so on around the table. Hold em is about big cards and position. Play tight up front and loose in the back. Play big cards mostly in limit and suited connectors in no limit.
