The only 2006 Bordeaux I have is perfectly fine, especially at the $12 price tag I paid. In any event, for me it's time to move on to the 2007's. <g>

It's certainly true that First Growths do not offer QPR, even in "cheap" years. The only one I ever had was long ago when I paid the outrageous price of $20 for a 1980 Latour that was on sale. The advice I received at the time was that Latour was a good wine to buy in a bad year. That was certainly true then, apparently still (relatively) true now.

FWIW, speaking from my perch on the low end of the food chain, 2005 Burgundies from good producers are an even better value than the 2005 Bordeaux. They aren't selling at thread appropriate prices, but some actually do come close. However, they are disappearing fast.
