Wishing I could give you at least ten recs for posting and Machan for writing that message!!! Cash for clunkers will turn out to be an enormously expensive outlay of taxpayer money, IMO. Buy a car, any car, that gives someone between 5 and 12/mpg more. Get up to $4,500 for the older car, spend at least $20,000 on it, including interest, dealer charges, etc....and put more people into debt. Debt -- Both for the buyer, and the taxpayer of the $3 BILLION dollar Shameful Bill.
