I try to be a value investor. As another contributor noted, it is difficult to pin a price on a growth stock. However, one of the things which I think about before I purchase a stock is... do they have a dominant position in the market which is not succeptible to competition. For DELL it is no. Another question I ask is what could possibly be announced as good news versus what could possibly be announced as bad news. In recent memory... it has all been good news.

Look at INTEL. Even though they have a 90% market share dominance, and almost complete control over the PC markets movements (by virtue of their market share) , they trade at a lowly P/E of 21. Or look at XLNX and ALTR. They are now much more conseratively valued although once high flying stock.

Its not that I dislike DELL ... its that I would rather leave the party when the party is still happy than when the party has ended. When it ends... it ends abruptly and the exits become very crowded.
