Iris,
actually that is the rate I would look at. (shortterm rate). Now there's only devaluation as a potential threat. Do You know the old (summer) and the new exchange rate NT vs. US-$ ?? If the former fixed rate was finally toppled and a new "fixed" rate or even a "floating currency" situation were now in place, this would be a significant signal for market entry..

Don't forget that exports from those fabs should be much cheaper after a devaluation. So they benefit from recent currency shakeouts. Only the refinancing could have been negatively affected by high rates. But if shortterm rates are down (again ?) this concern is wrong either..

I only know Macronix (MXICY) traded as an ADR in the US. Do You know whether UMC, SIS, Winbond, Nan Ya etc. are traded as ADR's too ?? If yes, do You have symbols ?

regards
CROSSY
