Stripper caught driving home from work while impaired

A Dartmouth stripper has been fined $1,000 for failing the breathalyzer on her way home from work last month.

Farrah Shauna Moore, a 23-year-old exotic dancer at Ralph's Place on Main Street, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Dartmouth provincial court to a charge of impaired driving.

Police observed a silver Honda Civic being driven erratically on Braemar Drive at about 1:50 a.m. on July 3.

Court was told the car was speeding up, slowing down and swerving side to side.

Officers engaged their emergency lights and pulled the car over on Prince Albert Road near Celtic Drive.

Ms. Moore then backed her car into the front of the police van, which was parked about 15 metres behind her vehicle.

“I am a stripper at Ralph's Place,” Ms. Moore told police when they approached her car. “I just got off work and shouldn't be driving.”

Asked if she'd had any alcoholic drinks, Ms. Moore replied: “Oh yeah, a few.”

The officers arrested her and transported her to the police station in Dartmouth. On the way, she made more incriminating statements.

“I can't talk to you, but I shouldn't be driving,” she said. “I messed up bad and it's all my fault.”

At the police station, Ms. Moore had breathalyzer readings of about .150, almost twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Judge Flora Buchan rejected a request from Crown attorney Cheryl Byard for an increased penalty and fined Ms. Moore the mandatory minimum of $1,000. She's also prohibited from driving for one year.

Ms. Moore, who lives on Summit Street in Dartmouth, was accompanied to court by a middle-aged man. The petite brunette smiled as some of the facts of the case were read into the court record by Ms. Byard and rolled her eyes as she left the courtroom.
