Intel has never said that margins in 1998 will be 50%. They have said that LONG TERM they expect margins of around 50% but time and again they have said that this is because they expect that LONG TERM they do not expect microprocessor revenues to account for as big a share of their overall business as today. Intel has a huge investment in many other products and other companies and expects to earn a great deal from many of these investments - but they do not expect to maintain this new growth at today's margins. I don't believe that they have ever said or implied that margins in their core business will decline very much at all. Actually, I don't think they said anything about this at all.

This is not my opinion. It is what I remember that the company has advised. John Hull - Am I correct?
