Upset at Favre? Get Over It

(Newser Summary) – Brett Favre's decision to un-retire again and join the Vikings has set off all kinds of Favre-bashing among sports columnists. Rick Morrissey of the Chicago Tribune wonders if everyone's lost their football sense. "Is he selfish? Very likely, but he's going to make the Vikings better." Is he the QB he once was? "No, but he's going to make the Vikings better." The Vikes have a great defense, and "now they have a great quarterback." That's all that matters.

In the dissent:

Israel Gutierrez, Miami Herald: "Favre is doing everything you would advise your 10-year-old son against: putting yourself before the team, not giving yourself every chance to prepare for success, creating tension with teammates."

Gwen Knapp, San Francisco Chronicle: "Favre let his ego run wild, and instead of a sympathetic older athlete, he appears to be a spoiled child."

Fans in Packers country are venting by sending photoshopped Favre shots to the Journal Sentinel. (Think Favre in a playpen or atop a stack of waffles)
