Nowhere in that article do I see any evidence that Wavetop's
usefulness will be short lived. The crux of the article as I see
it, is that Microsoft wants their streaming format to be the industry
standard. Right now there are a variety of formats, and for every
file type you need the specific 'video player'software for that file
type. Microsoft wants you to be able to download any file type and
play it with their ASF which will probably will be bundled with Win 98. Wavetop can deliver any type of streaming audio or video. Wavephore doesn't really care what's done with the file once it gets
there. I see Wavetop as a supplement rather than a competitor to the
current internet delivery system. I think the key to wavetop is
CONTENT, and they're lining them up every day.
