The sad thing about circular firing squads is that so many people enjoy playing the game. They don't see beyond their immediate field of vision and the "enemies" they are mowing down; most ignore the overall outcome of the process, which is an obvious act of futility that leaves us mired in inaction and drifting further and further into deep financial holes.

But that is the trajectory that politics has followed most of my adult life. I can hope it will change but I have little expectation now that it will. People want to scream at the Evil Others and be the victims of awful conspiracies all around them. They won't take their meds, so instead they get their anger.

Their choice.
