Indonesian tin shipments stable
Release date: 19 Aug 2009

itri.co.uk

Latest data released by Indonesia’s trade ministry showed that 8,788 tonnes of tin metal was checked prior to export in July, 1.4% up on the June tonnage of 8,661 tonnes, but 11.2% lower than in July 2008. The cumulative total for January-July is 59,354 tonnes, up 5.4% on the first seven months of last year.

The previous day the ministry had announced that CV Serumpun Sebalai, a Bangka-based smelter, has been awarded a tin-shipment licence, bringing the total number of registered suppliers to 31. The trade ministry introduced the export licencing system in February 2007 to keep track of smelters’ metal quality, duty payments and ore sourcing.
