Sotomayor’s Party Guest
Ed Whelan
Tuesday, August 18, 2009

So guess who was among the guests that the White House invited to attend last week’s party celebrating Justice Sotomayor’s appointment to the Court? New Haven mayor John DeStefano Jr., the named defendant in Ricci v. DeStefano (the New Haven firefighters case) and, as Justice Alito’s concurrence documents, the driving force—in collusion with a local racebaiter who is his longtime ally—behind the racial discrimination against the firefighters.

Just wondering: How many other mayors did the White House invite to the party? And why did it invite DeStefano?
