Because it was a discretionary Fing war... that accomplished nothing except making the ME even more unstable. Worst policy mistake ever.

That is, of course, your opinion and is shared by many.

But that's not the point.

It is well a well known fact -- since the days of Sun Tzu, that war decisions have to be made without regard to the opinions of a people, and must be made on objective criteria. The reason we failed in Vietnam and lost 58,300 Americans in the process is that the real war was being fought by the anti-war crowd in the States.
