Speaking of air conditioning - we have a 100 year old house. Installed central air when we bought it in 2002, but it's never quite been enough on the 2nd floor where 2 of the bedrooms are.

I'm looking at what's called a "Mini Split System." They're popular in Japan and Europe. Small outside mounted compressor, that can be mounted even to the side of the house. Units installed in each room (2 of them). Cost is about $2,000 before installation, which is quite simple.

Also, Obama Dollars are involved, in the form of a 30% tax credit for purchases in 2009 and 2010. I may buy the units this year so I can reap the benefit of the tax credit on my 2009 taxes.

Oh, did I mention? We hit a high of 106 today, a record breaking temperature.
