Yes, we can agree on that. And since you brought it up, I have license to hold you to it.

Lane, please quit being deliberately illiterate. Go back to the original article regarding the cost effectiveness of this accident prevention intervention.

Not illiterate. We're talking about two different things. You brought up this single program that, although I haven't read it carefully, intervenes with chronic problem drinkers that keep falling off curbs and hurting themselves. My comments were aimed at all of the DEATHS caused by ACCIDENTS that are a function of alcoholism. Obviously the folks in your program aren't dying or they wouldn't be making repeated trips to the ER.

Now, if you want to eliminate FATAL ACCIDENTS triggered by alcoholism you have a major public health program. Basically it would require mass interventions--rounding up and drying out all the alcoholics. So, I repeat my point: "We aren't doing this because it isn't cost effective."
