BillyG,

Your mention of a market of 1000 lasers for 1998 is incorrect (mildly). As per ScotMcI 's transcript of the conference call (Post 6565 and 6566)

Akins, "demand by chipmakers for DUV tools in 1998 would be approx. 700 systems, and in the same breathe he (Akins customer) doubted that the industry would have the industry wide capacity to meet all those demands".

Akins does mention Cymers present capability to MEET a demand of 1000 lasers per year. The present estimate is a realistic delivery of about 500 DUV systems in 1998.

A realistic estimate of approximately 600 lasers from Cymer seems appropriate considering the four to six month period in which the lasers must be "fitted" into their steppers and scanners. (delivery in 1998 for early 1999 systems).
Based on some earlier posts that would give Cymer earnings in 1998 of about 1.80 to 2.20 per share. With concensus estimates sitting just over 1.00, I think Cymer's gonna smoke em'.

Of course Komatsu might just steal that entire market away, isn't that right bears.

Gimme a break,

Dusty
