We can have as much prosperity as we can afford to pay for, which is not much. We can't afford to cater a full Japan-style fifteen year period of economic stagnation.

I don't know anyone who thinks a new age of prosperity is around the corner. Do you?

What we need is a slow leak without the extremes of panic.

Of course, panic can always fun as well.
