RIP American publication that educated Elmat. Reader's Digest was the only thing I could afford. Used to buy them in a used books store dirty cheap when I was a teenager.

Through it I learned a lot.

Growing up with 'Reader's Digest'
independent.co.uk

Before that I learned electricity using Van Valkenburgh "Basic Electricity" books. The US Navy started putting electric and electronic system inside the ships in WWII. The sailors needed a crash course to install, maintain and operate the gear.
Van Valkenburgh "Basic Electricity" books were used to train them.

After 'graduating' on the electricity level, I went on to learn basic electronics via Occidental Schools, a system of self learning.

It was only when I stated studying management, early 80s, using Peter Drucker books, that I discovered training is an American invention.

As US return to its natural size, the symbols of the US die out too.
