Science pulled us out of the dark ages and allowed us to establish civilization. As I feel it is mankinds manifest destiny to evolve, science is how we do that. Having said that, my advice to the young is that concepts like Zen and Existentialism are also very important to learn as they exercise ones ability to think abstractly. They are also real things which eventually can be seen in the minds eye, very important, and which few truly understand. One can take a course in either and write papers that will give them A's, but not really understand them. So if one is really interested in true intellectual achievement, they must understand Zen and Existentialism to the point where they can see it in thier minds eye like a tree or a dog. The only way this is accomplished, is to make it a goal. Eventually the mind will figure it out, and let you see it one day, quite unexpectedly. And then the world will change for you forever.
