""But today I watched a spider for a couple hours. He (or she) spun an intricate web about 10 inches between points. It was amazing to watch and frankly it was incomprehensible""

They are still refining the finer points of evolution. Scientists have wondered for years how so few genes can do so much. Recently they have found out genes/traits are passed on and control things in groups, sort of like fractals.

Even our emotions come in packets from our animal cousins.

My explanation is unclear as I do not know the particulars. But I remember it surprised the scientists, and explained how so few genes can do so much.

We also have cultural evolution; and they now think the physical laws of the universe itself may have evolved per se.

So evolution is a much larger concept than most people think of it.
