I don't like the message but I don't assume it is meaningful or even truthful.

If one watched CNN's Michael Ware as a news source in Iraq, one would be utterly ignorant of the facts as they exist on the ground. The same is true about AP press reports, which is essentially the same as al Jazeera.

OTOH, the situation is fragile and it has already been [foolishly] broadcast by the administration that a year from now there will be no American presence (rather than allowing the situation to determine this as time proceeds).

Time will tell whether the democracy holds.
