Okay..if you want general clarification. This does not apply to this stock however. To Dan..it is not illegal for a market maker to be short a stock in a proprietary account (inventory). They are simply subject to buy-ins if there is a deficit in DTC. So quit saying that.

If professional short players were buried in this stock:
1. You would see more order flow firms on the bid
2. More volume due to repeated printing of the same trade
3. Different firms would have come into the stock to join in on the fun.

If shorts can't get a stock to come in they will try to jam it up to create a little momentum and try to sell at better prices. When stocks continually go up and down retail investors become confused and become inclined to look for pops and dips in a stock. This creates liquidity which helps the shorts cover their position.

If the real dark side of the market was involved, this stock would have been to 6 and back by now and they would have made 50 times more money. In addition, the bid side has been so weak in the stock that a powerful seller could take the stock to .50.

I have watched this stock trade on Level III and watch it daily on Level II. One firm continually rides the bid side on the stock. When it does trade higher nobody follows. The bids stagger 2.15 2 1.93 1.93 1.875 1.75. That does not indicate a desperate need to buy.

I have now briefly clarified my statement. If you want examples go to a Bloomberg and do a search of small cap and bully board stocks that trade under 20 cents. There are about 5,000.
