If McArdle wishes to make the case that moving to a more European type of health care system would cripple innovation in pharmaceutical research and medical technology she should demonstrate that European discoveries are minimal.

This article suggests otherwise:


It des not matter where the research is done or what company obtains patents. What matters in this case is where the profits reaped from the patents come from. Most profit comes from US consumers regardless of which company or country did the original work.
