The rental car companies and the US automakers have destroyed more future customers with dumping inventory.

First time I rode in a Ford Focus was with Budget and the car was a piece of crap with less than 5k miles. Interior trim was falling off, plus the fit and finish was not up to 1st world standards. Embarrassing to think a US company built this car.

On the other hand a good friend of ours has nearly the identical car and you wouldn't believe it was the same make model. Great little car and they were very happy with it. Wasn't falling apart either.

So what's up with the rental fleets? IMO, these cars are the left overs and less then quality vehicles that have been dumped. Problem is many people get there first time look at another manufacturer while renting cars.

Never a buy a used rental car especially after I've had it a day or two.
