When you only read writings from economists that agree with you and dismiss those that don't as part of a "few," you can convince yourself that "almost all economists" agree that something had to be done.

I realize the "do nothing" economists are in the minority, but they're usually the ones who recognize that the economy is highly complex and cannot easily be summed up with generalizations. That includes the generalization that any action is better than none at all. Most likely we simply postponed the inevitable.

Those are the views that I value, not the views from people who declare by fiat that theirs is supposedly the only one that matters.
