John - one of the things I try to do is to illustrate how standards are not equally applied. The press judged Obama's remark as a slip of the tongue based on his intellect, achievements and demonstrated abilities. It would be foolish for the press to advocate that a Harvard graduate with a degree in Constitutional law really really does not know how many states there are. On the other hand, since Palin has not demonstrated her intellectual prowess and her only claim to fame is a "hockey mom", it is news when she says that Africa is a country.
