Regardless of your or my political preferences, companies IPO when the stock market is up. Political events of the last ten months have been very depressing on the stock market.

It has been proven to my satisfaction that events such as hikes in minimum wage take roughly eighteen months to work through the system. IMHO TARP, CFC and other government interventions are likely to start a new clock each time.

The fallacy of the cash for clunkers is similar to the fallacy of the broken window. Yes it makes work for a window repair man, but it also diverts resources better allocated elsewhere.

There is no question that Obama is friendlier to environmentally favored causes than the previous administration. The economy still has to be sound enough to support free markets for stocks to succeed.
