The "deal" needs to be made with the American people, not special interest lobby groups. Not addressing TORT reform is an admission of back-room deal making at the expense of meaningful reform. A few studies can be massaged to say just about anything. When you talk to real people who are living and working in the health care system, they know the cost of defensive medicine is huge. And it's no secret to the American people.

I'll go out on a limb and say a major health care bill, which does not contain some form of TORT reform will not pass Congress this year, even with the addition of all those eyes swelling up over the death of Ted Kennedy.
