Maurice,

The problem with medical care is that it is too expensive. It simply cannot be paid for out of pocket by the vast majority of Americans. It truly is a problem that needs to be addressed.

As a retire I have a subsidized policy that is still expensive on a monthly basis. It is a good policy.

The crunch comes from the reality that if my policy were given to everyone many could still not afford it as there are deductibles that would make it clearly not a "universal" policy.

What we need is an honest and open national discussion - not 1200 pages of special interest love.

The issue has been demonized beyond the point where the problem is being discussed.

It is not simple. It is not something that should be done so the clowns in Washington can go on vacation.

The delay to September was the best possible thing. What comes next will be interesting. Obama will again have a chance to be a leader or simply a beautiful sounding teleprompter reader.

Perhaps what is needed is some catastrophic policy that is federal in basis that would not take away the nature basic health care is provided. In addition perhaps clinics where people can go for some sort of public care. Neither of those would destroy the current private system that for me has worked so well.

If nothing else - whatever is passed needs to be honesty defined, honestly priced and honestly paid for. I fear none of those 3 things will happen.

Bob
