player one: ... In any case, welcome back Dr. Jim, you were missed.

Any thoughts from anyone on the Japan election?

I'm really surprised at the lack of notice from investors, as the DJP seems really anti-free trade, anti-capitalist, and anti-US Dollar, looking to have an "Asian Currency" within a decade.

And the early numbers seem to imply that the DJP will have a chance to really move the needle....

SNIP:

A TV report says exit polls show the opposition Democratic Party of Japan has won a landslide victory in nationwide parliamentary elections.

Public broadcaster NHK television said Sunday that the Democrats were set to win about 300 seats in the 480 seat lower house of parliament. The Democrats currently have 112 seats.

Polls by major newspapers said Hatoyama's party is likely to win more than 320 seats in the 480-seat lower house, sharply higher than the 112 it held before parliament was dissolved in July. The Democratic Party would need to win only a simple majority of 241 seats in the lower house to assure that it can name the next prime minister.

player two: The "upset" is a done deal now -- news.yahoo.com

The currency reactions (if any) in the next 24 hours ought to be educational
