They have always been a part of life there, but they certainly have seemed to have gotten worse the last few years... would need some stats to know for sure. but I lived there in the mid 70's and some in the mid 80's... the fires happened but not on this scale that I recall. the fire when I was in high school that threatened to jump Foothill blvd in La Canada was like a big earthquake... the big one after a bunch of lil rumbles. it seems now every year brings massive fires. something ain't right?
