Sankar - Java was announced less than 900 days ago - and in this short period has caught the attention and imagination of the ENTIRE programming community - so much so that MICROSOFT wants to kill it - that is not faint praise!! When I was in college we were learning Unix but almost all the production systems were mainframes and DEC VAX's. Not long after the corporate world adopted Unix though mainframes and mini's did not dissapear. Unix still cannot do the most intensive of computing tasks - so it makes me laugh that some Microidiots are predicitingthat NT will replace everything. Now a new generation is learning Java and that wave will supplant the existing Java momentum among independant and corporate developers.
