Dew,

Not many. i.e. - 1 tin of Sardines has more than 3Gms of DHA.
I believe a single small fillet of Salmon or Rainbow Trout is in the same order of magnitude.

French research is too small for any credibility. IMO.

I think the more important factor is keeping the ratio of Omega 3 to other fats at a reasonable level. If one is on a North American diet (I had fried chicken wings, onion rings and french fries at lunch today), then 200mg a day just isn't going to cut it.

And the French research dealt with a daily dosage - probably more effective than 1 baked/bbq'd trout fillet every couple weeks.

And if you can't get fresh wild fish (as opposed to farmed), many people face more risk from the toxins than benefits from the DHA if they eat it more than 2 or 3 times monthly.

I take 1 Gm daily (DHA:EPA :: 400:600). I used to take 2 Gms daily but I've cut out most of my high saturated/trans fat meat and junk foods most of the time. Today was a very nice exception. ;-)
