Don't know if this will put a spanner in the works to have an impact on global economics, but the first signs of disruption have begun on a small scale here:

"Dear CIS [Chinese International School] Parents,

With the recent closure of some schools, including Hong Kong International School and the adjacent Hong Kong Japanese School, we want to provide a brief update on student absences, precautions, and procedures.

To date in Primary we have had no confirmed cases of H1N1 flu. Two cases have been confirmed in Secondary (7NC and 8UQ). Both children are doing well."

Probably nothing compared to SARS, but we shall see.
