I left the Dicks town hall early to avoid a really late ferry. U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks Faces Skeptical Crowd at Town Hall... tinyurl.com The "astroturfers" in majority all had homemade signs, while proponents were more.....ummmmm....polished and professional. An exception was a smug old babe who'd lettered something about how it ain't 1776 no mo'. Had brief quiet and civil conversations with a couple of the Obama enthusiasts who were not part of the SEIU contingent. Really nice folks and True Believers. They couldn't comprehend references to socialism, freedom, liberty, etc., thought the anti forces were at best, stupid. Efforts to suggest similarities between this intrusion and past failures elsewhere induced the glazing of eyes. Mention of interference in rational economic calculation, coma. An awful lot of good neighbors have been pickled in a foul brine.
